Hiking in Michigan: Lake Ann Trail

During Covid-19, we had to get creative on our meaning of traveling and vacation. Since I had just moved to Detroit, this was the perfect time to explore my own backyard. So, one weekend right before northern Michigan opened up for good, we took a trip to Glen Arbor to get out of the house and see what our Michigan world had to offer!

We stayed in a cozy small condo in Glen Arbor, right on the water and hiked in all of the places that we could. My favorite hike was the Lake Ann Trail.

When you get to the trail and park, there are a few different trails you can walk. One is shorter, and the other is longer. We took the longer route which took us a few hours but nonetheless, it was the perfect route for us at that time. If you just want a short hike, there is definitely a shorter walking trail you can take. Just check the trail map.

We had our dog Blue with us and took him off the leash and he stayed on the trail the entire time. If you have a dog, definitely bring them! We had no problems with Blue being off the leash and he was definitely occupied the entire time sniffing on the trail, chasing birds and using up a lot of energy.

A few things I thought were really cool!

  1. There were a lot of fallen trees - some chopped down and some had fallen naturally in the woods.

For me, they were beautiful to see, but also a moment of reflection!
